So I do alterations/sewing on the side for a bit of play $$ or to do my teenie tiny part to our family finances... so I took on a wedding dress alteration. I was a bit nervous, but it turned out so well! I was quite excited! and the Bride was overjoyed at the results and that made it all the better. It was a strapless dress, and it was about 4-5" TOO SMALL! I was surprised some brides would put that pressure on them, needless to say, it didn't fit and needed alterations. She first suggested adding fabric to the sides, but that would have looked awful with all the bead work etc. So we came up with making the back into a corest/lace up style. and here are the pics!
BEFORE- zipper in back with faux covered button detail
AFTER- with loops added for lacing up
AFTER- with the modesty panel in (can be worn either way as this piece Velcros in our out
AFTER- showing how it would look laced up. The beauty of a lace up is that it will fit a variety of sizes and the bride doesn't have to worry about going up or down a few pounds before the wedding.
It really looked great on her! I wanted to take a pic of the dress on, but forget to ask.
Yay, looks awesome! Good job Lara
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd ever have the balls to alter a wedding dress. That's awesome, Lara! I wish we could have seen it on. I'm uber impressed.
ReplyDeletePS- Grandma was telling Greg that you guys are getting your little dude sealed to you around the time of the reunion. Is that something we can attend?
You made my wedding dress and everyone including me thought it was amazing so of course you can do this. It looks awesome
